Sushi and Succulents

I apparently decided to give myself a week off of blogging. It wasn't entirely on purpose; I've started writing post after post, but for one reason or another I couldn't bring myself to finish them. Simple Pleasures on Friday was never posted, Weekend Recaptured fell by the wayside, and then yesterday I had a partially written post that I couldn't bring myself to complete.

Instead of divulging the details of all that right now, I'm going to focus on the positive things, like my girls night out last night!

My wonderful friend Rachel invited me out with some of her friends for her birthday dinner. She was super sweet though and made the dinner about my birthday, too, which made me feel really special. I wasn't sure if I was going to make it to her house in time to carpool, so I met them at the restaurant in Burlingame. Dinner was at Barracuda Sushi and let me tell you, I have been craving sushi for too long! It was worth the wait because it.was.delicious. I got the Super Spicy, which is basically a fancier, spicier version of the spicy tuna roll and it was quite good, although not as spicy as I anticipated. I traded pieces with some of the other girls around the table and Raye ended up passing some of hers over to me because apparently I looked like I needed to eat more and she may have ordered too much food!

All in all it was a fantastic evening and a much needed night out with girls my age. Not to mention that the night was especially fantastic because she gave me this darling birthday present!

I've been wanting a pot of tiny succulents since I saw the one my dad arranged that's sitting on my parents' front porch. I was giddy with excitement when she brought it in! Best part? It was made with love because it wasn't purchased already assembled and she took the time to arrange it! I RAVED over it. I'm pretty sure she has no doubts that I'm in love with this present.

Now that Rachel and I have spent some time together again (it's been 4 months since the last time!), I'm looking forward to the next time we get to hang out, which will hopefully be much sooner rather than later.
