Sometimes after a long week at work, I need to revisit the things I am grateful for. In an attempt to give myself a pick-me-up, I'm trying to stay focused on the positives rather than the negatives and I'm also trying to stay excited for upcoming events this weekend.
The 24 Hour Film Race

Last year I participated in the 24 Hour Film Race with some amazing students from the University of California Santa Cruz. They were a great crew and I'm really looking forward to working with some familiar faces as well as some new ones. Like last year, I will also be a part of the writing team, which I am excited about because I enjoy having some input as to what the project is going to be about and also what role I play. Since I went to the screening last year at The Roxie and saw some of our competition, I can also give some insight as to what other people have done with their films. I hope our team works well (and quickly) together and we kick some butt this year!

Depending on how exhausted I am tomorrow morning will determine whether or not I'm able to make the drive home right away. If I think it's best to wait, then I fully intend on making my way down to the beach and relaxing for a while and enjoying the sound of the crashing waves. It might be freezing in the morning, but I'll be prepared with a blanket and a cozy jacket to keep me warm. No use in endangering myself and others while navigating that windy mountain highway.

Sunday, my seester and I are going to hike Mission Peak. It takes a little while to climb, but the view is well worth the effort. I haven't hiked up there in nearly 10 years, so it'll be a fun little adventure for the two of us. Since we'll be hitting the trail early, I'm hoping we don't run into too many other hikers or get stuck behind a dawdler. It's always nice to not have to deal with foot traffic. I plan on bringing my film camera to capture some of the view and work on my photography skills while I'm there...I'm looking forward to seeing the results!
Those are my plans in a nutshell. I hope everything goes according to plan and I have a weekend of fun and adventure!
