What are you doooing?!

I've been trying to write this post for ages. It started with telling you about the diamond necklace I got for Christmas from my beau, but then it turned into a short novel of a post that just plain wasn't going to work....so, I'm simplifying it!

On Saturday, March 10th, my life changed. It was expected eventually, but it was unexpected for this particular day. I had no clue what was in store for me. It started with my boyfriend showing up much earlier than we had discussed (in the morning rather than in the evening). I certainly wasn't complaining because I love surprises, but he had just surprised me last month by showing up a WEEK earlier than we had planned! That wasn't where the surprises stopped, however, because I was informed that we were going to the beach to hunt for sea glass, which is one of my FAVORITE things to do. Ever. Not only that, but we were spending the night there! I.Was.Giddy.

As soon as we arrived at the beach, I thought for a moment that he might propose. Then, I realized that he still hadn't talked to my dad to ask for his blessing. I let it go because I didn't want anything to get in the way of this beautiful day at the beach with my love. It wasn't until he asked me about what days the jewelry store was closed that I knew for sure it wasn't a proposal day. Still, we walked the beach, holding hands, talking about our future together, and picking up pieces of glass. We stopped at a piece of driftwood for a photo opportunity, and we were on our way once more.

There were plenty of glass pieces to choose from and he was getting in on the fun of scooping them up. I saw him kneel down to pick one up, I turned to pick up a different piece, and when I turned back around, there he was kneeling with a black box, a gorgeous ring, and the words, "Will you marry me?" were being spoken. My jaw dropped and I instantly started to cry tears of joy. My response? Well, I managed to squeak out a, "What are you doooing?!" before I remembered that I needed to answer him with a, "YES!" Then I finally let him put the ring on my finger even though my hands were shaking uncontrollably. I couldn't believe he had managed to surprise me! He flew in early, my parents picked him up from the airport, and he talked to my dad. My mom told my sister that she had to come up with a believable excuse to cancel our Saturday morning hiking plans since he was coming in early, and the rest is history.

I absolutely love the way he proposed! He took me to one of the first places we had an adventure together, he took me to do one of my favorite activities, and he made all of my dreams come true. It was perfect. Even though he isn't here with me currently (we still haven't managed to make it into the same region of the state), I look down at my ring every day and smile, knowing that very soon he will be my husband.
