Dah-nuh dah-nuh dah-nuh dah-nuh dah-nuh dah-nuh dah-nuh!
(in case you were wondering, that is the sound of the ominous music leading up to a shark attack)
It's that time of year again. SHARK WEEK!
I look forward to the Discovery Channel's Shark Week every single year. I've been watching it since I was a kid and it's my favorite event of the summer. I realize that admitting this makes me an even bigger nerd than most people probably knew. Shark Week seems to have attracted a greater following in the recent years (at least people like to advertise it on Facebook) and many people have jumped on the Shark Week bandwagon. I've been faithfully watching it and was especially pleased with the six new episodes that were introduced last year.
I am anxiously anticipating this year's Shark Week and will record all of the episodes on DVR so I make sure I don't miss a single one. I have a thing for sharks that borders on obsession. I probably should have been some kind of marine biologist, or a shark biologist, rather! Great Whites, Bull Sharks, Hammerheads, Leopard Sharks, Whale Sharks, Goblin Sharks, Blacktip Reef Sharks, Lemon Sharks, Blue Sharks, Mako Sharks, Basking Sharks...I could go on. I carry facts about sharks in my head that probably won't help me in my day-to-day life, but I love sharks!
One of my dreams is to go diving with sharks. I'd ultimately like to cage dive with Great Whites. I've already staked out a few companies who do it, but it really comes down to funds and what I can afford. Great Whites can be seen up here in the Bay Area, but the visibility isn't as good as some locations in southern California and Mexico.
Great White Shark diving is on my bucket list and I seriously hope to do it someday...in the meantime, I'll enjoy Shark Week to the fullest!
