I posted last month on Kate and Emma about my love for thrifting and finding gems in other people's castoffs and I also briefly mentioned consignment stores. A few weeks ago when I was out on Main Street in downtown Pleasanton, I passed by a consignment shop I've always wanted to go into...Savvy Seconds.
Immediately upon entering, I knew this was going to be my kind of store. Nice jeans for less than department store prices (some even brand new) and gems galore. Savvy Seconds only accepts clothing from the past three years. I'm not sure how they would verify this specifically, but I think it roughly translates to "things that are still in style." The items they accept are from stores like Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, Neiman Marcus, J.Crew, Zara, and other high end stores. Think brands like Diane Von Furstenberg, Marc Jacobs, Bebe, Karen Kane, Ella Moss, Tahari, Rock & Republic, J Brand...and the list goes on. Like any place, you still have to be selective, but I found a couple of long-sleeved shirts that I couldn't live without. Because they are long-sleeved and it is the summer season, I actually got them for a discounted price. 40% off! Luckily, they are lightweight, so I won't have to wait to wear them because they are perfect for a cool summer evening.
Here are my purchases...
If you have been doing some closet cleaning lately and want to try to make some extra cash, take in your gently used items (I think you need at least ten items at the Pleasanton store) and see what happens!
