The project is The 24 Hour Film Race and it is exactly what it sounds like. You have 24 hours to complete the project. The filmmakers are emailed a theme and a surprise element (prop and/or action), then a script is written, the scenes are filmed, and finally the editing team gets together to put the finishing touches on it before uploading it to the site. All within 24 hours. Doesn't that sound exciting?! I think it does. I don't know if they paid the screening fee to have it premier in San Francisco, but if they did, that would be awesome!
I will also likely be a part of the writing team, which is equally exciting for me. Last month I essentially rewrote an entire script for a webisode I was in. I kept the opening monologue by the "Boss" and created entirely new characters and further developed the story to make it cohesive. The script was okay before, but there were too many characters to just cut and paste dialogue to make it work. So I took it upon myself to write it the way I wanted to see it done. And we used it! I am really looking forward to being a part of the creative process though. It will certainly be nice to get and give feedback. Besides, I like the idea of helping to develop my own character.
So Friday afternoon after work I'll be heading down to Santa Cruz to meet up with the cast and crew. It will definitely be a new experience and I am thrilled to be involved!
