Samoas and Such

It's that time again...Girl Scout Cookie season!  Every year I look forward to eating these precious cookies.  I know that Thin Mints tend to be the best selling cookie of the season, but I can't get enough of Samoas, the runner up.  If you don't like coconut, then you probably don't share my love of this complex creation, but they are my FAVORITE!

When I realized it was the season, I couldn't seem to find my local girl scouts anywhere!  Their usual place outside of my bank and grocery store were barren.  I didn't have any girls come knocking on my door this time around, so I didn't know what to do!  I had driven by Jamba Juice one Saturday morning and saw that they were out, but I didn't have time to stop.  There was no way to know whether or not they would be there Sunday or the following weekend.  Or so I thought...

I signed onto the Girl Scouts of Northern California website and learned that there was a Cookie Locator phone app!  You have no idea how excited I was to learn about this!  Instead of entering in my information and waiting to receive an email telling me where my local girl scouts were selling, I was able to download the "FindCookies" app to my iPhone. All you have to do is type in your city or zip code (I found more results by using my city), and then chose between Today, This Weekend, Next 7 Days, or All and voila!  A list of cookie sellers complete with the time frame they will be at each location.  Easy as pie.  Or cookies rather.

Armed with my newfound knowledge, I raced over on Sunday and bought 6 boxes of cookies, though they weren't all for me. Sharing is caring after all! Needless to say, the girl was both surprised and pleased! So after 1 box of Samoas (I already had one box at home from my mom), 3 boxes of Thin Mints, a box of Tagalongs, and a box of Trefoils, I was good to go.  I immediately put one box of Thin Mints in the freezer because I'm convinced that's the only way to eat them.  Besides, they'll keep longer, and when the warmer months finally roll around (and why aren't those warmer months here yet???) I'll have a cool, minty cookie to sink my teeth into.

So, what are you waiting for?  Go support the Girl Scouts and buy some cookies!

  1. I wasn't planning on buying any boxes for myself because I know I'd eat the whole thing, and then a group of adorable girls showed up at my apartment. and I couldn't say no!!
